The graphite electrode with grade of regular power(RP for short) as well as being called normal power(NP for short) is produced in our plant, and is specified with allowable current density less than 17A/cm2. RP electrode is widely used in electric furnace with regular power for steel melting, silicon making and phosphorus production.

Handling Procedure

PACKAGE

Generally there are two professional way of packaging for electrode storage and transportation listed as below:

  1. Separate Package: The electrode body and nipples are packaged separately to make shipment.
  2. Pre-connection: The nipples are connected and installed with one end of electrode body for shipment. The purpose is to protect electrode, especially for thread pars, from damage during storage and transportation.

Usually we adopt the 2nd way of package as per our technical expertise, and also can make package in accordance with specific instruction from customers.

TRANSPORTATION & STORAGE

  1. Cautious operation is suggested during lifting or moving to prevent against tilting or sliding as to harm electrode.
  2. To ensure good status of end surface and screw threads, please donot directly hang the holes at the ends of electrode by hook when lifting electrode.
  3. Gentle operation on nipple boxes is needed to prevent any collision that may lead to thread damage.
  4. Electrodes and nipples shall not be stacked directly on the ground, so that electrodes are not damaged or polluted with soil.
  5. Electrode shall be stacked neatly in storage, and the height of stacking is suggested no more than 2 meters.
  6. Electrode shall be stored in dry condition against rain and moisture, and wet electrode if any shall be dried before usage to prevent cracking and additional oxidation during steel making.
  7. Nipples shall not be stored near high temperature to prevent nipple pin from melting for overheating.
